It's bad enough we can't Trust Google PlayStore Apps... Not side loading an App through APKMirror... It's laughable anyone would want to Risk draining their bank account.

If you guys are serious about video try Motion cam instead, you get RAW video and Log from RAW of the sensor directly. Black magic is absolutely useless if you care about video quality and control of the output. Yes you will need an Android for it but it's miles away from anything you can get from the iPhone.

Hey Michael! I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and followed the directions but I ran into my auto blocker that kept me from installing the app but I turned it off and then installed the app and turned my auto blocker back on. It works great, thanks!

Has anyone made a matrix chart of all the IOS and Android cell phones that can run the BlackMagic Camera App and what features out of all the possible features each phone in the matrix can do?

I have loaded it on my s22ultra and it's restricted to 4k 30fps and all the zooms are at 1080p at30fps a serious downgrade from the pro video app from Samsung which gives 4k 60fps in all lenses 😢

Due to all this sick mind reprogramming and manipulation on the West, I'm a bit not ok with the name of the app. However, you did a good job presenting its functionalities, I just wanted to share something off topic.

And then there was lights, camera (the new Blackmagic dual sensor camera), and action (space/time travel). Right? If at some point in time there was total darkness, nothing existed until there was light. And... wait, where did I hear that before... "and then there was light..." 16 stops of dynamic range and 4 stops of dimensions.

Darn, so close.. Even recording works but monitor shows green screen 😢. This is a One Plus Nord 3 with 4k camera.

Kind of a Bummer For no Codec Options. Google Might (Or should ) add Xocn by Sony, Dnx by Avid, Cineform by Gopro and open the gates for Codec Compatiblity if Blackmagic is going to make revolutionary one in future. Also you might need to use Pixel 9 pro coming in August for Best experience possible cause it's Pixel, It may have much more Power to Record and handle seamlessly These Formats.

Where to get the presets?

Any idea if it is 8 bit or 10 bit - Obviously Prores will be 10 bit, just wondering about the other settings...

With all my love for BM products this is the worst scenario for the development of this camera app for BM and here's why. They could not provide a working product for all Android phones, as filmic and mpro24fps did. Now everyone will customize their application because it is officially available just for a few phones. A bunch of mods is a bunch of miners, viruses and other crap that will now be associated with the Blackmagic name. And it will be impossible to fix this situation.

Do it supports color grading or not ?

Side load was the first thing that i did when i read that my S22 was not suported. Installed the app, when oppened the app the ui was miss aligned and only showed a black screen. Fliping the phone horizontally make the preview come back, and everyting works. Aside from the cloud, not worth using, it has less codec options than the native app.

My wife has a samsung 23 ultra, and the first things I noticed were that she could film in 8k, and that there were no timecode options. In fairness, with regard to using an external drive, most android phones can be easily seen by computers in the same way as an external card reader, so getting a video file into resolve (on a pc at least) would not be a difficult task. Now, all I need to do is find a way to hijack that 8k camera away from the missus so I can compare it with my r5!

Can it shoot log on an iPhone 14 Pro Max? If it can't, it sounds like a lot of those creative options won't be available.

I downloaded this app on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and it will not let me record in ProRes. I get a notification saying "ProRes 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps is only supported when your device has a minimum storage capacity of 256GB or when recording to external storage" I currently have plenty of space on my phone so this is kind of disappointing.

yeah, what i really want to see is how you actually produce the video...how do you record it, how do you edit it, how do you color grade it, how do you upload it. this was an awesome part 1, but basically its saying have your recording set up ready, use presets that you like, which is all awesome advice, but would love to see more.

they picked apple!!?? no they didn't pick anything, they were already working apple to create a camera that would make content for the apple vision pro which it is now officially announced, this app have no purpose for blackmagic other than to give the iphone the capability to create content for the vision pro using their software and hardware experience which later after people pushed for it, they made one for android but they were lazy to make it for all android phones

Downloaded the app on my pixel 8 pro as soon as I saw it was available. No external recording, no ProRes, no log. The only 3 things I cared about. Deleted the app.

I wouldn't hold my breath about BMD supporting any operating system other than a Mac. I just got screwed with a speed editor on a brand new beast of a PC I just built. It was specifically designed to run resolve and it dose so magnificently, including all 12k footage from their website. I had to buy a tour box to replace the speed editor that i cannot return now because its a replacement. All devices run fine in resolve except the speed editor. Their tech support could not even begin to help with the issues and just gave me canned responses. I wrote a detailed review for the speed editor on the B+H website as William if you want to check it out!! If you want to see the email string from BMD tech support as a PDF reach out.
